(Adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s novel The Road)
McCarthy’s novel is above all a novel about heaviness. Everything is heavy, so I had to set my framing very low in the panels to give that impression. It’s the same for the colours. If I used very bright colours, the drawing became a support for the colour. But in my own psyche, it’s the colour that has to give the drawing a little support, without overpowering it. It’s a subtle balance that depends on the story and the atmosphere you want to create.
