In 2007, six great Rutu Modan’s graphic stories featured, translated, on The New York Times. They are memoirs involving Modan herself and her family, with a prominent role of her paternal grandmother, who grew up in Warsaw and fled to Israel after the Nazi occupation of Poland. In Chez Maurice, Modan accompanies her grandmother to a hairdresser.
